The handbook is a working guide for PHV drivers and is an invaluable tool for both applicants and existing licensees and will be regularly updated with any new or amended information.

From 1 November 2021, all Topographical testing will be undertaken at our (TfL) driver assessment centres at Baker Street and West Kensington.
The TfL Topographical test (if taken on or after 1 November 2021) costs £36 and a re-take costs £16. Tests booked at the TfL approved centers taking place prior to 1 November 2021 will have an associated cost. Please see our approved centers table for specific center details.
We have confirmation that the Topographical examination has been shortened from 2 hours and is now as follows:
90 minutes long
4 Digital Map Routes (Instead of 6)
Due to shortening of the amount of routes we believe there is now even less of a margin for error as each route will have a higher weighting for marking purposes.
